Reviews and Wire stories carry the byline of the desk member who wrote them: Elin Cross edits the Cashout Report and signs off every review; Callum Ashworth reports the Casino Wire’s regulation and licensing coverage; Naomi Strand writes our beginner guides. Site-wide pages — policies, methodology, tools — stay under the collective desk byline, since they aren’t any one person’s reporting. Every byline, named or collective, is held to the same standard below.

How the desk works

Reviews and Wire stories are researched, drafted and edited by humans, with AI-assisted drafting and human sign-off. No review publishes without the licence verified against the regulator’s register, the bonus terms read from the operator’s terms of service, and an honest research-based-or-field-tested label. The review workflow, step by step

Every piece moves through the same path, and no stage is skipped to hit a deadline:

• Verification first. Before a word of assessment is written, we confirm the operator’s licence against the regulator’s public register and read the current bonus and withdrawal terms from the operator’s own terms of service.
• Drafting. A writer scores the casino against the six fixed, published Cashout Report sub-scores. AI may assist the draft; a human owns every claim in it.
• Labelling. The review is labelled “research-based” or “field-tested” honestly. We never dress up desk research as a hands-on test.
• Editorial sign-off. A second person on the desk checks the facts, the sources and the label before anything goes live.

Human accountability and independence

Whether a piece carries a named byline or the collective desk’s, the standard is the same: a mistake is ours to own and fix, not a persona’s to hide behind. Commercial arrangements never reach the person scoring a casino before publication, and no advertiser or affiliate partner can request a score change. We rank by score, not by commercial relationship — the reasoning is set out in full in our affiliate disclosure.

How we handle corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it in the open. Substantive corrections are logged on our corrections page with what changed and when, rather than quietly edited away. Any reader — and any operator — can flag a factual error through contact, and it is assessed on the evidence, not on whether there is a commercial relationship behind it.
