In a social network, relationships between entities are often represented and managed via a social graph protocol. It seeks to record the relationships between people, organizations, or other entities within a network to facilitate various interactions and analyses based on those connections.
A runtime environment for executing smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain is called the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). It offers the processing power and infrastructure required to run decentralized apps (dApps) on the Ethereum network.
A decentralized social graph technology called CyberConnect aids in Web3 applications’ capacity to scale network effects. Users can control their social identities, contents, and connections using the EVM-compatible CyberConnect protocol, which also gives developers a full range of capabilities for creating socially engaging apps.
The CyberConnect protocol uses generative smart contracts, like the Uniswap protocol, to create new smart contracts linked to dApps or users as they interact with them. These smart contracts allow users to create flexible NFTs to monetize their social data and dApps to create context-specific on-chain social networks.
CyberConnect, established in November 2021 by Wilson Wei, Ryan Li, Shiyu Zhang, and Zhimao Liu, has rapidly grown, bringing in thousands of active users each month who have completed more than 7.3 million transactions.
For ProfileNFT owners to pick from when they want to issue their SubscriberNFT or EssenceNFT, the protocol also offers a large collection of customizable and expandable middleware smart contracts. Because of the middleware’s design, users can construct Web3-native use cases like “only BAYC holders can subscribe” or “pay 1 ETH to collect my 500 limited edition posts.” Visit the CyberConnect Developer Centre or thoroughly explore our earlier tutorials to learn more.
A CyberProfile holder and a subscriber have a one-way connection, which is represented by SubscribeNFT. Each owner of a CyberProfile is permitted to create a special SubscribeNFT that can be set up with pay-to-follow (paid subscribers), hold-to-follow (token-gated communities), and other rules.
The SubcribeNFT can represent particular social connections like following, subscribing to a creator, friendships, organization membership, and participation in activities and communities.
EssenceNFT is an all-purpose NFT that private CyberProfile owners can use for any material (such as blog posts, videos, and social media updates). Also possible are restrictions like “pay-to-mint” (for crowdsourcing), “hold-to-mint” (for community members), etc. The issuer can choose either a non-transferable soul-bound token (SBT) or a tradable NFT.
Users can control and monetize their social media channels by activating on-chain subscriptions, tipping, and other features in their CyberConnect profiles.
The social network architecture of CyberConnect is being used by more than 50 projects to power innovative, new user-focused apps. A couple of noteworthy initiatives are Phaver, a decentralized social media platform with 110k unique active users per week, and Link3, a social network built from the ground up for Web 3.
